Nyt toukokuussa kun kesälomaintoilu alkaa viimeistään nostaa päätään ja matkakohteita pähkäillään kuumeisesti, ajattelin tehdä postauksen yhdestä lempikaupungeistani. Tämä kirjoitus on oodi Berliinille. Itsehän olen hieman myöhäisherännäinen, ensimmäistä kertaa kävin Berliinissä vasta häämatkalla syksyllä 2010, mutta sen jälkeen kaupungissa on tullut luuhattua useamman kerran (toinen postaus Berliinistä).
Berliini on tuttavapiiriin suosituimpia lomakohteita eikä mikään ihme: edulliset ja nopeat lennot, edullinen hintataso ja noin miljoona mielenkiintoista visiteerauskohdetta jaksavat innostaa minuakin kerrasta toiseen. Minulta välillä kysytään (ja auliisti kerron kysymättäkin) vinkkejä, siitä mitä kaupungissa kannattaa tehdä. Parasta Berliinissä on tietysti ziljoonat edulliset ravintolat ja baarit sekä melkein yhtä lukuisat pikkukaupat, mutta kaupungista löytynee jokaiselle jotakin. Tässä siis tärkeimmät Berliini-ihastukseni yhtenä postauksena. Berliini-vinkeistäni ei löydy 2. maailmansodan tai DDR:n muistomerkkejä, mutta niistä onkin paljon tietoa kaikissa Berliini-oppaissa.
Torit:
- Arkonaplatzin “antiikkitori”: Jonkin sortin rompetori, jolta voi tehdä kirppis- ja antiikkilöytöjä edulliseenkin hintaan. Olen löytänyt torilta 50-luvun tanskalaista designiä ja itäsaksalaisia haarukoita.
- Türkischer Markt: ihan tavallinen tori, jolta löytyy ruokaa, taloustarvikkeita, mutta myös todella edullisesti kankaita, nappeja ja nauhoja. Torille voi hyvin mennä aamiaiselle/lounaalle ja torin läheisyydestä löytyy todella edullisia döner-paikkoja.
- Kollwitzplatzin tori: lähiseudun muotoilijoiden tuotteita, luomuruokaa, sampanjabaari ja maailman parhaat maalaisranskalaiset tryffelimajooneesilla.
- Mauerpark: legendaarinen kirppis viikonloppuisin, tosin ihmisiä on ihan liikaa. Kai Mauerparkissa on kuitenkin jokaisen kerran käytävä.
Lanka- ja kangaskaupat:
- Loops: Lähinnä saksalaisia, tanskalaisia ja ranskalaisia neulelankoja. Lempparini Berliinin lankakaupoista.
- Handmade Berlin: Muunmuassa yhdysvaltalaisia ja japanilaisia neulelankoja.
- La Laine: Mukava lanka- ja neulekauppa melkein lempiravintolani, Schwartzes Cafén vieressä. Ei kovin iso lankavalikoima.
- Knopf Paul: Pieni nappikauppa, jossa on käsittämättömän paljon nappeja, joista vanhimmat ovat 1930-luvulta. Kävimme kaupassa viime reissulla, hämmennyin ihan täysin nappipaljoutta ja ostin vain muutaman napin.
- Babielato: kangaskauppa, joka myy lähinnä luonnonkuituisia kankaita edullisesti.
Muita ihania:
- Tutto Naturale: Italialaisia nahkalaukkuja ja -asusteita sekä paikanpäällä koneellisesti neulottuja neuleasusteita (merinovillaa, kashmiria!).
Museot:
- Museosaarella: Ihan kaikki.
- Helmut Newton -valokuvamuseo: Täällä on käytävä melkein joka kerta. Perusnäyttely on mielenkiintoinen ja teemanäyttelyt ovat järjestään olleet hyviä.
Ravintolat ja baarit:
Kivoja baareja on tietysti tosi paljon, riippuen siitä millaisesta menosta muuten pitää. Tämä lista on vain omasta näkökulmastani ja paikat sijaitsevat oikeastaan kaikki Prenzlauerbergin kaupunginosassa. Samaan aikaan niin porvarillinen ja boheemi Prenzlauerberg on tunnelmaltaan ihan paras! Poikkeus joka vahvistaa säännön on lempiruokapaikkani Schwartzes Café, mutta se sijaitsee Lännessä. Jos haluaa välttämättä shoppailla kuuluisalla ostoskadulla Ku’dammilla, niin tämä on tosi lähellä. Suosittelen Spinatkäsespätzleä!
- Chagall: Sijaitsee vilkkaan kadun varrella ja on hyvä paikka tarkkailla ohikulkijoita. Kiva tunnelma+hyvä ja halpa ruoka (kokeile keittoja tai pelmenejä tai salaattia)
- Scotch and Sofa: Halpaa punkkua ja kiva DDR-sisustus
- La Muse Gueule: Viime reissun uusi suosikkimme, kun ravintola oli vain 50 metriä asunnoltamme. Hyvää ja edullista ranskalaishenkistä ruokaa.
- Focacceria tekee todella hyvää focacciaa ja jos syöjiä on useampi, niin kannattaa otta vaikka viiden satsi ja mennä syömään (kauniilla ilmalla Weinbergsparkiin (lempipuistoni), joka on ihan vieressä.
- Due Forni: Mielettömän hyvää pitsaa!
- Prater Garten: Perinteinen “olutpuutarha”. Ei erityisen edullinen, mutta tunnelmallinen kyllä.
- Kesäillan hämyssä on kiva katsastaa baareja eri kaduilla: Kastanienallee, Zionkirchstrasse, Kollwitzstrasse.
Majoitus:
Hotellejahan Berliinissä on pilvin pimein, mutta jos lähdet Berliiniin paria päivää pidemmäksi ajaksi, suosittelen lämpimästi Airbnb-majoitusta. Lempialueeltani Prenzlauerbergistä löytyy todella paljon edullisia asuntoja. Tosin kannattaa vielä tarkistaa asunnon sijainti tarkkaan kartalla, Airbnb:ssä ihmiset markkinoivat tietenkin asuntoja hohdokkaammilla aluenimillä kuin missä ne todellisuudessa sijaitsevatkaan.
Kannattaa myös tsekata:
- Berliinin kaduilla -blogi: Berliinissä asuva kaverini Kaisa pitää blogia berliininsuomalaisen näkökulmasta.
- EIN000: ilmainen on ilmainen kirjanen, jota on jaossa monissa pikkuputiikeissa Berliinissä. Kannattaa siepata mukaan, koska siinä on useampi kymmentä sivua mielenkiintoisia kauppoja. Tekstit ovat myös englanniksi.
